Spring Song by James Kirby

James Kirby (American, 1931–1992) lived most of his life in Chesapeake, Virginia. Kirby studied art at the Art Insitute of Chicago and apprenticed with the artist Rand McNAlly. He is best known for his woodcuts that were influenced by Japanese woodblock printing and Chinese painting, which he was exposed to in Chicago during his formative artistic years. His work was included in two shows sponsored by the Smithsonian Institution.
