Maurice Joron (French, 1883–1937) began his artistic career as a portraitist at age 26. In 1914, he was mobilized as an infantryman and wounded at the Battle of the Marne. Some of his work documents and interprets scenes of war. He is also known for his serene landscape and still life paintings, lithographs, and engravings.
